Yamaha shines at National Boat Show 2010

The bright red hue of Yamaha’s new corporate colour boldly stood out at the Coca Cola Dome (JHB), in the very prominent ‘Yamaha corner’ as many dubbed it, at this year’s National Boat Show which was frequented by scores of visitors. Making up the corner were 5 well-known Gauteng dealers – Linex Yamaha, Brilliant Bass boats, Camping & Boating centre, Boat, Caravan & Camping and Raven Yamaha.

The overall look and feel of the Yamaha stand went a long way in fortifying our status as one of the biggest players in the industry today. This was achieved through careful planning and coordination, strong teamwork and importantly the assistance and hard work of supportive dealers. The strategy behind this year’s exhibition was to put on our best suit on, not in spite of but more so because of tough economic times.

ESA’s new Face!

ESA are proud to introduce our new presenter… the lovely and talented Jamaica Nicolson!
Jamaica tells us a bit about herself!

“Born on the 20th November 1988 in Seattle Washington, USA. My family moved back to South Africa in 1994. Growing up in and around the North Coast area I have had great time to get to know and appreciate the ocean and the vast beautiful surroundings of the North   Coast. I started school at Umhlali Primary and finished in 2006 at Crawford North Coast. All throughout school I was a tomboy who loved to hang-out with the boys and get my hands dirty. I was always outdoors playing sports, riding horses or getting myself into some sort of trouble. Straight out of school I enrolled at Varsity College to begin my Communication Science degree. In between trying to finish it I have some of the greatest opportunities to travel to some of the most beautiful Places in the world.

In 2008 I spent close on 4 months in Monaco France visiting a Friend who most certainly showed me the greatest time and spoilt me by allowing me to spend most of my time on a mega-yacht where he was living. It was a holiday I’ll never forget. Just recently I returned from the US where I visited Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Orlando and New York. The weather was hot, the sun was always shinning and the People went out of their way to be polite and hugely helpful. New York being a place I’ll be returning to in the near future. Now that I am back I will finish off my degree and work with ESA hoping to do as good a job as the beautiful and dynamic O.J Symcox.

Good day valued customer

We are calling on all our loyal viewers, members and supporters to lend an understanding ear as we at ESA attempt to explain the unfortunate predicament we have found ourselves in this year. The ESA magazine has been at the heart of the problems we have been experiencing and has at the end affected the consumer and ultimately our very valued members.

We would like to take this opportunity to humbly apologize to you all and especially our cherished members who have had to bear with us through our silence and lack of communication. The lack of communication and inability to be transparent is due to legal constraints and cannot disclose any details.

We are aware that there is much unhappiness but again would like to thank you all for your patience, understanding and kindness through this difficult time and ask that you all continue to support our publication, brand and show; we hope that this has shed some light on our situation. You too can do your part to help ESA in the struggle to get the next publication out by contributing positively to the brand via word of mouth and forums.

Many kind regards
Armando Costa – CEO ESA Holdings

Angling with artificials

Of late catching fish on artificial lures has become quite the craze, particularly using spoons and poppers as bait. This art of angling is definitely not a new found art but rather an art used by the old timers in the angling circles. Back in the day spoon fishing was the preferred method of catching most of the predatory species along our coastline and because of the sheer numbers of fish around apposed to nowadays it was a very..

FRESH WATER

Ndumo Game reserve

After a few back and forth phone calls and emails I was asked to accompany a research team from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) on a field trip to Ndumo game Reserve. Two main things sprang to my mind, one Tiger fish and two, catching Tiger fish inside a reserve where no-one else is allowed to fish. Perfect!! This should be awesome. Eventually after a pretty long journey, made longer by my not so luxurious noddy wagon car...

Dropshot bottom style

Dropshot angling in salt water has grown in leaps and bounds. Basically by dropshot I mean the use of artificial soft plastic baits flavored and unflavored to target just about any specie of saltwater fish one could imagine. These artificial baits can be presented in many different ways in order to successfully catch your target species. In other words in the surf zone one would use the various weighted jig heads...
